Known Bugs and Limitations in 1.4.x

• Windows 2000 is no longer supported.
• The Levelator cannot open files created by Adobe Soundbooth. We're waiting for a fix in libsndfile 1.0.18.
• The Levelator cannot open some AIFF files created by Soundtrack Pro 2. We're waiting for a fix in libsndfile 1.0.18. Workaround: Save as WAV file.
• The Linux version is locked to Ubuntu 7.10 x86.

Changes from Version 1.4.0 to 1.4.1 (Windows only)

• When the app is (re)installed, it clears its cache of the new "phone home" message.
• If you right-click on an audio file, Send to... allows you to start The Levelator. No longer does this leave an additional instance of the application running each time.
• The Levelator appears in the Windows task bar.
• The Levelator is included in the Alt-Tab display of running applications.
• Error messages no longer include cryptic characters such as "\n".

Changes from Version 1.3.0 to 1.4.0

• Now accepts filenames containing spaces.
• Now processes very short audio files.
• Accessibility for visually-impaired users:
  • Windows only: Right-click on a source audio file, select "Send To" from the menu, then "CN Levelator".
  • OS X only: With The Levelator as the active application press Command-o for a File|Open dialog box
• Windows installer now includes MSVCP71.dll, which previously had to be downloaded by some users.
• New desktop icon shows up better against blue screen backgrounds.
• Killing the UI thread now terminates the entire application.
• Added link to documentation of supported file formats.
• The Levelator "phones home" at startup to The Conversations Network (a) to check for new versions (as in the past) and (b) to check for infrequent promotional messages.
• The license agreement has been updated to include a description of the phone-home behavior.

• Fixed a bug that caused The Levelator to crash when trying to Levelator more than one source file.

• A cool new interface.
• Significant improvements in the levelation algorithms. (Thanks to all those who submitted challenging audio files. We used every one of them in our testing.)
